Disability Job Fair

A job fair was held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Richmond's Lansdowne Centre in collaboration with Richmond Centre for Disability (RCD) where dozens of local and international companies set up booths, hoping to hire persons with disabilities. Fairchild Radio and Fairchild Television were among the employers who participated in the job fair, ready to provide employment opportunities to this underappreciated sector of the community.

Established in 1993, Fairchild Radio Group is Canada's only national multicultural radio network. With operations in Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary, Fairchild Radio has been serving the multicultural communities of Canada with three FM and two AM stations. 

In Vancouver, Fairchild Radio CJVB-AM1470 and CHKG-FM961 have been providing 24/7 quality radio programming in various languages including Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Punjabi, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean and more. For nearly three decades, it has been making tremendous innovations in the areas of radio programming, content distribution, concerts & events, marketing, promotion as well as creative problem solving.

Many people were interested to know more about Fairchild Radio.

Fairchild Radio is dedicated to offer equal employment opportunities to Indigenous persons, immigrants, visible minorities, persons of any gender identity and persons with various disabilities, and to create a built environment that is safe, convenient and barrier-free to staff and visitors with different needs. Whenever a job position needs to be filled, Fairchild Radio will reach out to the above mentioned designated groups via special interest networks, as well as participating in various job fairs supporting members of these designated groups.

Fairchild Television was hiring an Account Manager, Crew Assistant and Operator, among other posts.

Fairchild Radio was hiring a News Reporter.

The job fair was not limited to persons with disabilities, everyone was welcome.

Emily and Crystal were busy distributing flyers and company information.

The job fair organized by Richmond Centre for Disability was the latest one Fairchild Radio participated in.  On top of promoting the current positions the company was hiring for, the managers of Fairchild Radio treasured the opportunity to meet with job seekers and answer their questions, many of these job seekers were persons with visible or invisible disabilities.  

Richmond Centre for Disability is a non-profit organization providing services to persons with disabilities, their family and their employer.

Other employers that had set up booths at the job fair included BCAA, Costco, T&T Supermarket and Amazon. 

Many public and private entities also set up booths at the RCD job fair.

Many of them were eager to hire people to meet the market demand.
